Guarded Heart - a Live Painting done at The Stirring

“Guarded Heart” — 2007 — acrylic/mixed media — 24”x30”
By Richard Fudge painted at The Stirring

If you guard your heart like a coiled rattlesnake so it will not be trampled or broken, can you really be loved or even make true friendships?

Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. — Revelation 3:20 NLT

God said, "It's not good for the Man to be alone; I'll make him a helper, a companion." — Genesis 2:18 (The Message)

We all need buddies. I was a Boy Scout when I was younger. I like that Gen. 2:18 is the first use of the Buddy System. The buddy system is maybe the first rule you learn as a scouter. It is a way for Scouts to look after one another. Your buddy goes everywhere with you, and you go everywhere with him. Know where your buddy is at all times. The buddy system is very important -- more important than having a compass or first aid kit or anything else. If you get hurt or lost, your buddy will be able to help you. Two people can often solve a problem better than one.
