But before we get started on our exhibits, there is work to be done, and I need your help.
What: Clean up day at the Maintenance Building
When: May 9th (possibly 10th) starting at 10am and lasting until we are done (or 4 o'clock, whichever comes first)
Where: The maintenance building next to the Marine Hospital and the Ornamental Metal Museum
Why? To make the grounds a place for families to enjoy, to get the maintenance building to a usable state
May 9th and 10th we will be meeting at the Marine Hospital maintenance building at 10am. for a clean up day. This will include clean up of the grounds and the floor of the maintenance building. Below is a list of things we could use, and if you have suggestions or I have forgotten something, shout it out! We will be concentrating on the grounds and the floor specifically. The floor is peeling, and the peeling paint needs to be scraped. It is NOT lead paint.
Bring:
Gloves
Mask
Pressure washer
Trash bags
Tools for scraping, sanding
Brooms
Dust pans
Rakes
Please let me know if you will be able to help during our first volunteer opportunity. It may not seem like much, but it has to be done in order for us to move forward. If your kids are joining you, let me know that as well!
Thank you for expressing an interest in volunteering. This project will not be successful without your help. Other ways to get involved and help TODAY: visit our online store at : http://www.thejunkyardmemphis.
Lastly, if you have materials to donate you can bring them during this time. PLEASE check with me first, before bringing things down, as we want to make sure we can use what you are bringing us! Thank you!
Inspire someone today,
